塑料混入生活垃圾中的废旧塑料包装物很难处理:填埋处理将会长期占用土地,混有塑料的生活垃圾不适用于堆肥处理,分拣出来的废塑料也因无法保证质量而很难回收利用。

报告显示,我们平常应用的自来水中,含有肉眼看不见的塑料微粒,该机构对全球各地十四个国家的自来水进行了抽样检查,检查显示,83%的自来水样品中都含有塑料微粒。

The agency has carried out sampling inspections of tap water in 14 countries around the world. Tests show that 83% of tap water samples contain plastic particles.

1950-2015年期间,大约49亿吨塑料,即人类生产的全部塑料的60%,被丢弃的垃圾填埋场或自然环境中。在这些垃圾中,60%进入了环境,12%被焚烧,只有9%被回收利用。
Between 1950 and 2015, about 4.9 billion tons of plastic, or 60% of all plastic produced by humans, was discarded in landfills or in the natural enviroment. Of this waste, 60% goes to the enviroment, 12% is incinerated, and only 9% id recycled.
